The Natural Area Coding System^TM, NAC^TM, the Universal Address System^TM, Universal Area Code^TM, Universal Address^TM, the Global Postal Code System^TM, Global Postal Code^TM, Universal Postal Code^TM, GPC^TM, the Universal Property Identifier System^TM, the Universal Property Identifying System^TM, Universal Property Identifier^TM, UPID^TM, the Universal Property Identity Code System^TM, Universal Property Identity Code^TM, UPIC^TM, the Universal Map Grid System^TM, Universal Map Grids^TM and many other special terms on this web site are the trade marks of NAC Geographic Products Inc. and protected by laws of intellectual properties of the world.

The algorithm, the character set and the concept of the Natural Area Coding System are copyrighted content of NAC Geographic Products Inc. and protected by the International Copyright Law.

The Natural Area Coding System is a proprietory standard that requires licenses to use except that:

Consumers use NAC enhanced location based services or products such as maps, local searches, directions, navigation systems, etc;
Unless automating a collection of NACs, business users use NAC enhanced location based services or products such as maps, local searches, directions, navigation systems, etc;
Residents including businesses of a house or building use the NAC of the house or building;
Governments mark the NACs on street signs.

Here is a simplified NAC licensing model which allows you to use NACs and Universal Addresses on any of your applications provided that:

you subscribe and keep subscribing NAC Real-Time Geo-Services Suite
you use the NAC Conversion Service of the NAC Real-Time Geo-Services to do all the conversions between NACs and geographic coordinates
you include a note on each user interface using NAC or Universal Address: "NAC (i.e. Universal Address) is licensed by NAC Geographic Products Inc." If possible, with a link to http://www.nacgeo.com/nacsite/.

Free licenses for non-commercial applications including those of governments and not-for-profit organizations and royalty based licenses for commercial applications (maps with NAC Grids, GPS receivers, GPS navigation systems, mail sorting systems, online location based services, etc) that can input, display, retrieve, store and/or process Natural Area Codes or any of its derived codes can be obtained from NAC Geographic Products Inc.
