With Natural Area Coding System, you can conveniently retrieve maps with NAC and display a location on the map with NAC. For example, NAC: 8CHK Q87P is the location of our earlier office (50 Stephanie Street in downtown Toronto, Canada). You can type in the NAC to show the location on a map, use the the prefix NAC: 8 Q to get the map of the province, NAC: 8C Q8 to get the map of Toronto and NAC: 8CH Q87 to get the neighborhood of the location. All the maps will show the exact location and its surrounding areas of our earlier office because an eight character NAC: 8CHK Q87P uniquely represents an area of 25m x 34m on the earth. How efficient NAC is!
Natural Area Coding System is a new geodetic system developed by NAC Geographic Products Inc., which introduces two new features:
- Using one unified format of coordinates to represent a three-dimensional region, a two-dimensional area, a line section and a geodetic point anywhere in the earth, on the earth, around the earth and even far away from the earth. As a location is just a special case of an area or a 3D region when the size is relative small, and a line section is just a special case of a rectangle when one of its side is relative small, NAC can use the same format to represent all of these objects.
- Employing 30 characters instead of ten digits and making full use of these characters to construct the Natural Area Codes to make them very short, requiring only 50% of the number of characters required by traditional geodetic coordinates such as latitude/longitude coordinates.
